Painting the Coop Safety Question

So, initially, we were not going to paint the coop but now we are questioning that decision. How safe is painting the EXTERIOR if the chickens are already in the coop and run? If we paint and allow it to dry throughout the day and keep them out of the coop till night, will this be ok? I’d be using standard outdoor paint from the hardware store.

You'll be fine, if you do it in the morning it should be plenty of drying time to use it that night. Even if it was the interior it's very hard to find high-VOC paints these days anyways
