Would it hurt the chicks (4 weeks old) if I painted the outside of the coop while they are inside?

Sorry if this is a silly question...

I am not positive on this but I would think it would depend on the type of paint (some are harsher than others). But I do know that they have sensitive respiratory systems. If it were me, I would move them to a temporary pen until the paint had dried.

The only silly question is one not asked. I would not paint the coop with the chicks inside, or even adult chickens. The fumes are toxic to birds. Outside it would of course be well ventilated, but I still would not risk it. Just move them to a temporary area, and wait until the fumes have cleared out and the paint is dry.

I thought mine was coming unfinished. Apparently not...

According to the weather channel it's going to be a lovely weekend! Since I don't have to paint I can go straight to setting it up inside as long as Hubs doesn't decide to take over, that is!

I have 12 4 week old pullets that I need to bring home from my sister-in-laws and am waiting for 13 more next week (17 if I count the 4 that my sister-in-law put in the order).

Happy, Happy, Joy, Joy!!!
