Hello y'all! :D I have 2 mixed breed hens. I got them from an over-run farm 2 years ago. Their names are Beep (Speckled buff one) & Blacky (B & W). Beep has light blue, feathered feet and lays green eggs. Blacky has extra toes, slate legs and lays blue eggs. Beep has really smooth & soft feathers and Blacky's feathers are not as soft. I guess Beep is Silkie + ? and Blacky is Silkie +... well... something with a tail that sticks straight back. :) I am curious to see what you awesome BYC people have to say. :D Thanks for taking the time to look at them!

Those are lovely birds you have there. There are other breeds that have the extra toe; Dorkings, Faverolles, Houdens and Sultans. I'm not seeing much blue on the ear lobe...that would be more indicative of a Silkie influence...but I know there are others with more accurate knowledge on what the influences might be. The colored eggs are interesting...that could be a few different types such as EE, Ameraucanas, Cream Leg Bars etc. Hopefully someone can decipher your two hens a bit more specifically.:)

Thanks for your input nonetheless! :woot

I hope to find out what these girls are someday and will look into your suggestions. :)

I've been thinking about your hens while I was out...being that they lay blue and green eggs...I'm wondering if one would consider them EEs (Easter Eggers)

Most of mine are EEs. It's not a specific breed...it encompasses Ameraucanas that don't meet their breed standard and it also encompasses breeds that are crossed with Ameraucanas and the like that lay blue based eggs. That doesn't mean the egg is necessarily blue...it can be green, pinkish, tan from the crosses with the blue base. They are lovely birds. Some can be clean faced like yours. :)

Thanks for all your input! It is very helpful!

They are easter egger crosses. I think the dark one is easter egger crossed with silver grey Dorking. She has the heavy, low body and extra toes of Dorkings without the beard and crest of Silkies, Houdans, Sultans, Faverolles and Crevecouers, the other five toes breeds. The other bird is easter egger crossed with maybe a buff Orpington.
