Have a welsumer with pale comb and face acting normal when out runs a lot eat normal and drinks takes treats peck my phone. Poop is normal. One of the hens in her flock had roundworms but wasn’t acting different and was normal as well the roundworms where found in the poop. So I just treated for 6 days and finished their cycle it started in January 1st of this year and it ended the 6th. Their coop is clean I scrape poops from their hardened sand floors and their wood floors sweep the poop aswell only thing that I waited on doing every week is the boxes. They got a sand hole where they bathe in. Never used DE since I have seen mixed reviews that it could cause them to damage their respiratory system when inhaling it. The welsumer is currently molting along with BO and another welsumer that other 2s comb are red unlike hers. Anyone know what it could be?

During the shorter daylight hours of winter, and during molting the combs can be paler. What wormer and dosage did you use for 6 days?

I had an anemic chicken comb got paler day by day got weaker barely could stand, didn’t eat or drink. Had pooped liquid with yellow and white. Was lethargic and she passed like 11-12 days later while feeding her.

Hens can varying color of combs, not all will get pale. I would check her over for mites and lice, and look at night with a flashlight. If you should lose another, your state vet can perform a necropsy to find a cause of death, in case something is contagious.

The hens that died was July last year so I don’t think it’s contagious. I’ll check right now if she has mites where would be the ideal spots to check for them? Also the other welsummers comb is red like others.
