I'm a newbie. I have 3 orpingtons (2 buff and one lavender) and all 3 have pale combs. I have checked for mites regularly use DE in the coop, wormed them and have them on the proper food for their age plus got them a vitamin mineral supplement. I know they are finishing their first molt (they are 13 weeks and still have feathers coming in). Does it sound like I'm missing anything? Or is it just from them molting that their combs are pale? They all seem happy and healthy...

Welcome to BYC! I'm glad you joined us! :) Pale combs can be a sign of an unhealthy chickens. However, if there are no other signs of health problems, I wouldn't worry about it.

Hi :welcome

Glad you could join the flock! Sounds like you are doing everything right for your birds. At 13 weeks I would suggest that as they get nearer to lay they will redden up more. As they redden more this is usually a sign there are getting ready to lay. As long as they are happy, eating, drinking and acting normal I would not be too worried.

Good luck with them and enjoy BYC :frow
