pale eggs?

Hi,
I have 2 barred rocks, 2 RIR and 2 black stars and they just started laying eggs and they should all be brown eggs layers. The eggs being laid are very pale. I know they start small and get bigger, but do they also get darker?

They could, they might not. I have a Barred Rock hers are very pale at the end of the season, but they taste GREAT

. Also, put them next to a white egg and you might be surprised by how brown they are.

I have eggs of many shades of brown. Barred Rocks, New Hampshire Reds, and a Buff Orpington. Some of the eggs darken if they sit out in the light.

I believe uniformity would come from a single breed and sorting out oddballs.
