This is probably a silly question...

Yesterday when DF and I were out working on our new chicken house yesterday when he pointed out my three RIR hens faces were unusually pale (ie, not red like usual). Is this a sign of something being wrong? They are acting like their normal mean selves and are eating, drinking, and laying normally.

Any thoughts?

NO my RIR hens do that to when they an lay egg.

Mine are RIR crosses (mutts) but I find their wattles/combs change during the day during laying, excitement, grooming...but keep an eye on them if you believe this is something different.

My banty cochin's face changes based on the temp, her mood, whether she's eating, etc. Nothing to be concerned about unless their behavior changes as well.
