This weekend while buying some chicken wire for the run, the lumber guy at Home Depot asked if I wanted some wooden boxes for my coop (he had overheard me discussing how much more wire we needed and asked what it was for). In the back of their store they had some shelves made of plywood. I was almost giddy about "taking them off their hands for them."
Here is what they look like:
I have unscrewed one side and used the plywood (and screws) to cover the outside of the pallets, which is much nicer than I had ever intended to do, but my wife is already excited to paint them red.
Until I had taken the first one apart, I didn't realize how much great 1/2 inch plywood I will be able to "recycle." Granted, the bottoms are pretty weathered, but each shelf is 48"X25", and the sides are 4'X8'. I am already thinking of ways I can use the rest: nesting boxes for the rabbits, nesting boxes for the chickens...
