Does anyone have any experience with mulch made of recycled pallets?
I love this idea for being eco friendly but is it safe for chickens?
They use powerful magnets to ensure the nails are gone.

Most pallets that I come across are made of raw, untreated wood. I've never come across a pallet that was made of treated wood and that's the only things I can think of that would be a problem with lumber being used as mulch. There may be some by-products of the milling process like cutting oils, but there are cutting oils in most mulches from chainsaws. Things to consider, but I think it's a really interesting idea.

I drive truck and see a lot of different pallets that have some nasty chemicals, oils and who knows what on the wood, I personally wouldn't use them.

I use a product called Eco mulch, from a landscape place near me. It's basically tree trimming mulch $16.00 a yard

Thanks everyone! We aren’t going to use it just to be safe. Appreciate the feedback!
