Maybe its different in the us. Over here they put them out to be picked up by the company dropped them off with bricks etc on them. You guys may have a different system, maybe their cost us built into the delivery charge so they don't get picked up.

My son just brought me an article on how to plant vegetable plants and strawberries in pallets.. It looks like a great idea.. I think I am going to plant some strawberries and see what happens . I just got 50 new plants..

Whew! "Free" sometimes comes with HARD LABOR strings attached. I have been trying to dismantle these large pallets, but unfortunately they contains lots of screws with heads I've never seen before. Something tells me they are one-way screws.

saw on here someone (from the UK) had scrap iron (if you have none you can usuall find a scap yard or factory that has scrap pieces for sale) and welded it together 1 long piece about 3-4 foot long a piece about 6-8 inches long welded crosswise at about a 45 degree angle cross ways at one end and a steel pipe the same length welded behind to use as a fulcrum and a small piece on the other end that's a handle/ knuckle protector, you slip the small angled end under the nailed area loosen each nailed section and then with a final pull the board is off... but he never said how he got rid of the nail/screw sticking out but I have an idea it would be easier to knock them out with a hammer than pry out the other direction....
