I have cedar shaving on the floor of my coop.....getting my chickens tomorrow.... someone just told me cedar puts off toxic fumes and will harm my chickens. Is this true? I can take them out and put straw down if better.................

Welcome! Cedar is a bad choice; shovel it out and mulch your flower beds, and use pine shavings, as sold in bales for horse bedding, or straw or hay, which won't work as well, but safer. I use baled shavings myself, works great. Mary

Thank you Mary. I stopped and got pine on the way home and changed it out. I am getting chickens tonight.....it's crazy but I am just beside myself...HEHEHEHEHE
