We've had our four leghorns and one rooster for a little over two weeks. They are in a 12 x 12 pen with a coop attached but we let them out when we're home and they go all over our 17 acres. I've never seen them apart. Just now I went out for a walk to check my garden and I see that the rooster and one hen are in their coop, no sign of the other three hens and I walked to all of their favorite places I know of.
Is this a very bad sign that something happened to the other three? They were fine just a few hours ago.
