So it's been all day since I noticed the first pips early this morning. One chick hatched out around 5:00. The rest of them seem to have gone back to bed. I wonder what it will be like in the morning....?????

Ok, You are standing in front of the bator the heat light is in front of you and the vent hole is towards the back. Take a look straight down the vent hole and then about 1 1/2 inches toward you and the fan and inject about 50cc of water this is another trough thats almost square. Then wait and see if this brings the humidity up.

I think after this hatch and before the next one starts I will thread two tubes through the vent hole -- one to the small C-trough and one to one of the larger ones. Although, I must say that washcloth trick seems to have worked pretty well.

So far I've got 4 chicks and a few more pips in progress.

I sure do appreciate being able to get help when I get lost....

Okay, here are a bunch of pictures of the five that have hatched to date. I've got 3 Cuckoo Marans, a Blue Silkie and a Splash Silkie....

but I see that the pix here are just of the first three (the two Silkies and the first CM)... I'm still trying to get a grip at Flickr, so.....
