I tried to put this in the duck forum but I did not get any answers 😣. My 3 week only Muscovy duckling is panting a lot. I’ve been using her heat lamp in cycles to not overheat her once the panting started. But even when she was trying to cuddle into my lap that caused her to start panting. Should I be worried about this? I also don’t like that her temperature is fluctuating so much with the light being on and off. Is this ok? Sometimes her nose runs as well and I can hear a slight clicking noise when she breathes. It’s really worrying me. She’s my first duck and she’s a rescue, I want to make sure she’s happy and healthy.

Sorry to hear your duckling is feeling poorly.
Do you have a video of the duckling breathing? What is the temp in her pen?
Do you have any pictures of her pen area?
To eliminate overheating as a cause for her panting, I would move her outside into a cooler environment and see whether the panting continues after a few minutes.
If the panting/clicking/ watery nose continues I would find it likely she may have a respiratory infection; there are several that can affect ducks, but most can be treated with antibiotics. If you have access o a veterinarian it would be best to confirm this is the case rather than treating on a conjecture basis.
If you wish to treat, you can use the product below and dose at 0.05ml per pound twice a day, orally for five days.

Ducklings should always be housed in dust, ammonia, mold-free environment free of fecal matter accumulation. Head deep water should also be available.
