I have a 3-4 week old pullet who is suddenly panting and has droopy wings. I was actually watching them play, when she suddenly starting acting different.

I have her in a seperate box with some sugar water(which she isn't interested in).

She has stopped panting, but seems lethargic. Any suggestions as to what I should do/watch for?

Oh also, she seemed to be stretching her neck and gaping her beak earlier in the day. She isn't doing that now.

Did her comb or toes turn blue or gray when she is running?
If it is, that is circulation, if not, is she drinking or eating? If not, I wonder if it is Cocci, that gives that "vulture" appearence.
Hope someone can give you better advice! Just keep her warm, not hot especially if it is warm where you are (its 50 and cold here) .

The sun was right in the coop when I had the door open. I shut the door and turned off the lamp.

She seems to be perking up a little, flew to the top of the box and pecked at a bug. Normal poo. Not drinking but that could be because I have a different water container in the box, she has always been the most skittish.

All the other chicks seem fine. Should I keep her seperated overnight or will that stress her out?

I'd keep her in, do you have a pet caddy? often that is what I use to keep them calm in. If your concerned about liquids, get her and dip her beak into the water. They usually are ok, but i'd give her the ole college try.
At this point, you cannot put your finger on it, and that is often how it is, so until you can give exact symptoms, all you can do is wait and see.
She very well could have heat stroke, who knows.
Maybe where she is skiddish if you covered her up with a towel, to keep her calm so she will go to sleep.
Hang in there, chickens are odd. It is survival of the fittest and many birds will hide illness until they cannot hide it anymore.
Hope you can figure this puzzle out!

I have wondered about this bird a few times, she has always seemed a bit "behind" the others. Sleeping a lot and last to eat(of her own accord), last to be interested in something etc.

I've always just thought it was her personality, but now I'm wondering.

Her only symptoms at this point are lethargy and not wanting to drink. I wrapped her in a towel and gave sugar wayer via dropper, she also ate some plain yogurt with feed on top. She is now chirping loudly, I think she's lonely.

Thanks for the support and advice.

what all do you feed?
do you give chick vitamins?
what bedding do you use?
have you checked the crop?

describe the droppings, color and consistency.

get some Poly-vi-sol liquid baby vitamins, no iron..
give 2 drops on beak once a day for a week..then 1 drop for a week.

sounds like the chick got too hot.

do you have a temp gauge in the brooder?

I feed chick starter from TSC, they are out in the grass some also.

No vitamins yet, but I am getting them this morning.

Bedding is pine shavings and hay mixed.

Her crop seems fine and normal.

Droppings are the same as always, brown/black and some white, pretty firm.

She is eating and drinking this morning, but still occaisionally droops her wings, other than that she seems back to normal.

Thank you all!
