When I purchased my coop, the original owners gave me a stack of straw that had been adhered to paper and is just the right size to fit into a nest box. It works *so* well because the thick paper (which lays against the bottom of the nest box) keeps my hens from kicking the straw out of the box, but allows them to burrow in to make a nice egg-laying nest. The straw lasts *so* long, and once they tear it up, I just add a new one underneath. It works like a dream, but I can't source them. Does anyone use these magical creations? And can you please please please point me to a source?

I've seen the plastic ones before -- a wash and reuse sort of a deal and fairly inexpensive. Here they are: http://www.qcsupply.com/420355-standard-nesting-pad.html

Not sure how comfortable they are for the chickens but the reviews are good.
