Has anyone use paper shedding for bedding in the coop is it a good ida

Draw back is the mees when it gets wet.

I use it and they love it. Two eggs a day from three chickens. Of course its been hot as the dickens and had no rain for three months but i have plenty of extra paper if it gets wet.

I used it one time and that was the last time. It's too messy. The girls kick it out and it's all over the place. It looks terrible and hard to pick up.

I shred cardboard boxes, and it works like a charm. Plenty of air between the corrugations to dry things out. The shreds are about 1/8" x 3/4".

Yes, I use shredded up penny savers, supermarket ads and what-have-you that comes in the mail for my gals' nesting boxes. Yes, they kick it everywhere and it looks a bit trashy if it gets out of hand, but at the same time, it makes good sense to use free material that is delivered daily to your home and would otherwise be wasted.
