Paper shreddings

I have a heavy duty paper shredder at home. I have 20 chicken eggs and 6 duck eggs incubating.

I was wondering if I could use shredded paper as substrate for when they hatch? I am allergic to wood shavings, so that’s a no go.

Have you considered potty paper or even the disposable liners for humans? Walmart has those pet bedding that's out of cardboard/paper. Shredded paper does not absorb but if it's used paper, I worry about the ink. It's also harder to clean when wet, sticks to everything but not saying you can't use it.

would definitely recommend anything else than paper shreddings. try ground corn cobs or even sand.

Sand, dirt, paper towels...
If you use newspaper, you’re fine as long as it’s shredded ( which you are doing).

Oh! If it is a small brooder, Kaytee makes a paper based bedding. I like it for the first two changes in the tiny (2’x3’) brooder.
