Paper wasps

Thanks everyone! So far they haven't been back but I swear I had to knock that nest down 4 or 5 times. Hopefully they've learned their lesson. Either way I've got some new ammo for next year lol

I have paper wasps everywhere. They will land on me when I'm hanging washing or sitting in the sun. They feel like those tiny metal toys that used to come the Cornflakes circa 1960s? In my case, they only attack if the nest is actually shaken. One morning on my way out I discovered they had decided to nest under the balcony rail, of all places. By afternoon I had forgot about them, and touching the rail sent out the soldier. It felt like a small hammer being flung at my ankle bone. Wow! I set up the sprayer with hot water and dishwashing liquid and sprayed the nest, through the safety of the screen door, til it fell apart. The wasps continued to hang around for several days trying to find their nest but each time they were met with hot water a suds. Failing that i was going to use Neem oil. Nothing seems to like that stuff. Maybe a coating of Neem will deter them?

I'm not familiar with neem oil. I'll have to look into that. My solution had been just a spray bottle to spook them off the small nest and then knock it off.
