Parakeet ankle tag!?

My parakeet has a band around his ankle from when I got him at petsmart! What does it mean? It reads BBFB6514

I know you posted this a while ago, but it simply means he was bred in captivity (which is the law for budgies) and the breeder put an ID band on him. If it is properly fitted, it can be left on. Some states also legally require that any bird sold must have this band.
