Parakeet grit- and my babies ate part of their roost!

My husband made a little roost out of a small piece of ODB- but the babies have eaten it! I checked this morning and there are big pieces missing out of it! THey are a week old- will this seriously hurt them?

SHould I give them grit? Does parakeet grit work for chicks?

Oh no! What's ODB? I'm sorry, I have no idea what that is!

I would keep an eye on them today and give them some grit and maybe some olive oil soaked bread to help clear their crops if you think they got a bunch in there. Watch for poops

Are they eating normal food?

I've been using a thick branch without bark for a roost and it's working well. They peck it but can't eat it.
