Paralyzed Hen/Mareks?

really I would think that would be a major exposure with as many times as people open and close the box in route? Wow that is cool i was worried.

Can anyone find some photos of chicken effected by Marek's? I can't seem to find any. I had a hen that had semi paralysis, but her eyes never turned grey or anything. Just want to compare pics.

I have read that keeping turkeys with chickens will be a way to immunize your chickens from Mareks. Turkeys have a similar herpes virus that is non lethal to chickens, and builds up the imunity in the chickens. TheChickenHealthHandbook by Gail Damerow



Not all chickens with Mareks have the charecteristic one leg back one leg forward paralysis. As with all diseases, each case is a little different, thus hard to diagnose. I believe if there is paralysis going on, there is a good chance it could be Mareks. It is just so prevelant.
