My chicken's leg seems to be paralyzed. First she started limping, and the next day she couldn't stand at all. Took her to the vet - Xrays showed no fracture or sprain, no tumors. There is still some sensitivity in her toes (she feels pain when pinched) but it seems as though, that leg is not communicating with her brain, there are no normal reflexes... I've been giving her antibiotics and anti-inflammatory medication for 2 days, and am starting her on B-12 vitamins booster today. So far, I don't see any improvements. Did anybody have this happen? She is 3.5 years old.

Welcome to BYC. Do you suspect an injury? Have her toes every been curled under? Mareks disease can present with paralysis of one or both legs or wings. Hopefully, it is not Mareks. Injuries off roosts can sometimes cause sprains. Nerves can be pinched from swelling, but your vet probably has ruled that out. Google chicken slings for pictures of homemade ones which can help get the chickens upright and in front of their food and water for several times a day. If you are using a vitamin, give a multivitamin for poultry that includes riboflavin (B2) and thiamine, as well as E.

Had this happen with 2 hens due to dog attack. There was a puncture hidden under the feathers near the spine on both hens. 1 recovered, the other has a weak leg still.

Hopefully a vet wouldn’t miss something like that though. Best of luck with the B12 supplements.
