Hello, I had a predator attack 2 days ago. Missing 8, 1 left dead and this poor little guy who I found on his side in sad shape. I put him in a plastic tub with access to heat water and chick food. I fully expected him to be dead within 24 hours but here he is flapping his wings, drinking water when I assist and eating food off of the floor of his isolation tank Found him Saturday morning it is now Monday evening.
The bullet points:
Positive: Alert, eating and drinking, flapping wings, seems happy to see me
Negative:
I believe at least one leg is out of commission, possibly both
Poop is trailing down the worst leg

I put him in a wide mouth mason pint jar to see if he could use it to brace himself and strengthen legs but it doesn’t seem to be working although I’ve only tried it once.

Realistically I’m not taking him to a vet. I believe all critters deserve help and I’m giving him a shot but I’m also not into prolonged suffering for no reason.
Any thoughts or previous experience anyone can share? Should I keep going or is this a lost cause and I just need to give him a peaceful dispatch. I have no idea what got him, no visible wounds or obvious trauma.

Thanks, attaching pictures but he appears to be tired from the attempt at cup therapy because he is tuckered out.

Sorry for your loss. Have you given him some human vitamin b complex yet? 1/4 tablet daily would be good. Is he moving his legs or grabbing your finger with his toes? You could try making a chicken sling for him in which you can place food right in front of him. That can get him upright and keep him cleaner. At night, he can sleep out of the sling. Here are several pages of examples and a basic design:

And one leg seems to have more feeling than the other, tried moving his joints around and everything seems to move freely with no pain response but he’s not even trying to stand.
