Hi, I have an olive egger cross around 4 weeks old that has a parrot shaped beak. It's just started to develop this extra skin that's more of a lump than a wattle. It very soft and the chick doesn't seem to have any other issues as of yet.

Any thoughts on if the lump is because of the beak or if it's something more? Seems to be more swollen o the right side.

Thanks

It may be because of her beak.

Can you tell if the lump is formed by a pocket inside the beak under the tongue or is it exclusively attached to the outside?
Hard or soft?

How well does she eat? Are you needing to tube or hand feed her?
Is she gaining weight?

Hi! Oh goodness, I just saw two threads about chicks like this. They were Easter eggers.
I need to find them. I'll link them in my next reply.

The issue was that the upper beak continues growing while the lower beak does not. The lump is the back of the chick's tongue.

It's very soft almost like extra skin. It bothers her when I touch it but just that it sticks it s tongue out kind of. She eats normal and drinks normal and is the same size as the other chicks she's hatched with.
