Parrot people!!! **NEED ADVICE!!!!**

They called back last night and said they will take less for the bird. However, we got to thinking about the fact that our youngest, 16 months, is into EVERYTHING!!!! I don't know if having such a powerful bird is a good idea while he is too young, and TOO STUBBORN, to understand NOT to stick his fingers in the cage. I don't know... we shall see what the future holds. I'd like a grey and don't mind working with one..... but maybe now is not the best time.

Based on my past experience with birds-- biting and non-biting-- and as the parent of kids ages 2 and almost 4, I would recomend against bringing any kind of parrot into a house with young children. Little kids have little to no self-control and undeveloped empathy, which makes them tough to manage around pets. It would just take your child ticking the Grey off one time to lead to a relationship where every time your back was turned they were at each other, and either one could really hurt the other.

Hi,
A young child and a parrot that could take off a finger is not a good idea. Parrots can do a lot of damage and children get into everything.

If you were set on getting a parrot, it might be a good idea to wait until your child was older. Parrots love chicken drumstick bones as a treat. If you give one to them, they'll crack it open in a second to get at the marrow. Imagine what they could do to a kid.
