Well, I know he doesn't fit any description perfectly, so he probably is a mix. One thing everyone agrees on is that he is a conure.
He hasn't been nippy at all. He hasn't wanted us to pet him yet, and I'm not going to push it. As long as he will climb on us and not bite, I'll wait for him to feel secure enough for us to pet him.
Here are a couple more pictures of him.
You can sort of see the mottling of his leg feathers. He also has some of this mottling on his belly.
Here he had been playing hair stylist with GD
His wings are not clipped, and he does start to fly to me, but he always just goes back to the top of his cage.
I'm undecided about keeping his wings clipped. There are pros and cons to both. DH is planning (sometime in the future) on getting a Blue Heeler puppy that will be in the house.
Right now, there are no dogs in the house, except when GD brings hers in to play, which is not an issue. Her dog stays with the chickens or the small chicks at night, whichever I feel like needs protecting on each night, so she is used to chicks crawling all over her. I don't imagine 1 parrot will bother her if 200 chicks don't.
