I have a story about a quail chick. This was 18 years ago, when I was breeding cockatiels and conures. I had just gotten some Japanese quail and found out that I could incubate my own eggs. SO I made my own home made parrot based incubator (Mistake number one) and experimented with three of my quails' eggs. Out of the three, one hatched, one was a DIS and the third was a dud. Unfortunately the poor chick who hatched, their legs were unable to move and it flopped around. It died a few hours later. When I think back about it, the humidity and heat were also wrong (Mistakes two and three). Plus I opened the incubator too early (Mistake number 4). Although I did try to help the chick, it was not meant to be.

I plan on incubating again, this time doing it RIGHT. I have a proper brooder, a small incubator is on the way, and I have 18 years more experience (even if it is parrots) - plus you guys!!- to help me out.
