Passing diseases

We've all heard of getting e-coli from veggies... is it possible to have a virus pass through a hen and get into the egg? Suppose you feed your hens some leftover food that *might* have traces of a rotavirus bug your child has. Would the hen eat the food and have eggs with that rotavirus in it? Totally weird question, but I'm not exactly an expert in this kind of thing

I think that kind of stuff doesnt pass to the chicken, but i cant be sure. this will serve as a bump though so you get more input.
