Pasture Pens

I built bigred's tractor earlier this year and it's worked great for me (I use it as a stationary pen in the barn). I posted tons of pics over in this topic:

I put the feeders and waters right in the front under the top for easy access. It is kind of tough to get chickens out of it when it's slaughter time. I had the advantage of only needing a handful at a time (I processed over the entire month of January), so I had the element of surprise going for me. Walk into the barn, open the lid, grab a chicken or two before they know what hits them and move them into isolation pens.

In Pastured Poultry Profits Joel Salatin talks about constructing barriers in his tractors where he gets inside the tractor and herds his chickens into the front 1/4 of the space. I need to work something like that out to make it easier to gather the chickens.

For what it's worth, I've read that turkeys don't do so well in pasture pens. I think they might need more space. Your plans look neat though.
