A Black Copper Marans chick I hatched has had Pasty Butt from day 1. They are now 8 days old. The rest of the hatch (12) are all growing and thriving with no issues.

I have been cleaning up Little Sport (BCM with pasty butt) 3x a day but it is still almost the same size as day 1. I finally seperated it because I’m worried the size difference is become to great. For all it isn’t growing and can’t grt rid of pasty butt it seems otherwise plucky.

I have it on stress-aid and medicated starter crumble. Previous to stress aid I had added ACV (with mother) to water.

I know the likely outcome for Little Sport isn’t great but I will keep plugging away (pardon the pun) it turns the corner or not.

Sounds like it may be what I've read "failure to thrive" ... Could we get some pictures?

I do ACV w/Mother in the water for chicks as well as fermenting the feed. Try making a mash with it's feed, the consistency of oatmeal. Not sure what the Stress Aid contains but you could also try some Nutri Drench.

Keep cleaning the pasty butt, warm water & Qtip works, you may want to try putting some coconut oil or vaseline on the vent area to help poop from sticking to down.

FWIW I'm no chicken expert (just got our first chicks in May) but we had one that had pasty butt all the time and was growing way slower, a runt it seemed, we just kept cleaning her up and by 3 weeks her butt no longer needed wiping and by 5 weeks she was the same size as her siblings. We didn't do anything special for her other then wipe her butt all the time. Now at 7 weeks it's impossible to tell which one she was.

I didn’t have much hope at all. But I will
Keep wiping
