I bought 15 Red Leghorn chicks from a buyer who purchases chicks from Ideal and re-sells them, the problem that I am having is they have "pasty butt" a couple of them pretty bad!! I don't know what to do for it, there are 3 of them that everyday, twice a day I have to soak their little butts, and work at getting if off, I have not had this problem before with my chicks, at least not this bad, any ideas?? they are a week old today, the gentleman that I bought them from got them last Thursday, and I got them on Saturday.

A couple different things to try, they've always worked for me! Organic apple cider vinegar in their water, one capful per quart or 2 tbsps per gallon. It needs to be organic, with the mother, Braggs is a good, popular brand. This will help their digestive tract, and helps keep their respiratory system clear. Also, sprinkle chick grit on their food, helps them digest their food. Good luck and even using these remedies, allow a couple days for them to work. I think you'll notice results faster, but patience is your friend here.

They'll outgrow it soon. I've read of people adding ACV to the water, but have never done it myself. If you put some olive oil or vaseline around the vent after you clean them up next time it will be easier to remove the mess.
