I am having probelms with my chick Henrietta. She has pasty butt. I thought maybe its because my brooder was to hot but its really not what should i do and how can i fix it? She is a week today

I have never had pasty butt problems before and I have been using the same method for years. They live in a 30 gallon tub. I give the meticated feed. And save a chick nutrients for the 1 week.

I’m brand new to this. I had 5 newly hatched chicks and 3 of them got what I assume is pasty butt but it wasn’t pasty. It was marble sized crusted poop hard as a rock. They were about 4 days old. 1 of them was really small and hadn’t grown at all (the partridge cochin). I followed a YouTube video to remove it as gently as possible. The Light Brahma and the Black Australorp didn’t seem phased. The Partridge Cochin did die a couple of days later but I was told it was Failure to Thrive. I did notice that there were a lot of pine shavings caked in the hard poop. I quit putting pine shavings in the brooder until they were a lot taller and it hasn’t recurred.

The problem I was having was a partridge schin and I am wondering if its failure to thrive...she doesnt have it anymore but she is small and is not fully or almost feather unlike the other.

I don’t know if the pasty butt had a lot to do with my partridge cochin’s passing, but she just never grew even before the pasty butt.

This is her at 2 weeks but she looks the same. And others are almost fully feathered

That does look small, but if she made it 3 weeks already, that’s pretty good.
Yeah shes just not growing feather...but the first week I had to give her a bath because her but would be so poopy. Hopefully she makes it i am just not sure
