pavlov's chicks -- trained with biscuits

you can tell my chicks are from the south ---- they love their biscuits

took me 3 days - 5 minutes a night - to train them to come to me when i call

i get my special treat in hand and hold it down in their brooder
then i make chirping noises -- they come investigate and discover food (in my hand)
i hold it - they eat it - then they associate my chirping noise with special treats
now when i make my chirping noise -- they come running


to test it out -- i put them in the run today while i was finishing my hinged roof

i grab a biscuit - chirp near the entrance -- they come running (completely ignoring my dogs -- even though one is in "prey mode" ready to pounce)

i pick them up -- put them in a box (with the rest of the biscuit of course) - and carry them back inside to their brooder

Got mine trained with 7 grain bread (3.59 a loaf. )

We trained ours to come running to our backyard when we yell CHIIKKENNN, they get bread or anything handy at the time. The dog even comes to the door too, he loves bread
