Yes, a person can claim a swap for another person. It's been done for me, in fact.

If it were kraftyladies claiming for madamwlf, it would have been okay, as that would have been the same as CPL claiming for babymakes6. If kraftyladies was claiming for madamwlf, the swap is counted as madamwlf swap, not kraftyladies. In this case though, kraftyladies was claiming for herself so the swap is counted as hers.

Besides, the swap is for fun, no need to get uptight about it!

Sorry to have caused a stir about this. It can be done, the person offering to give up a swap should actually be the one claiming it. So technically I wouldn't have had 8, it would have used up one of madamwlfs. Since I am one of CPLs helpers too, I didn't want anyone to think that I was changing the rules, so that's why I retracted it. It's all good.

It will just be done the "politically correct" way in the future.
