I thought you couldn"t swap for the rest of the week if you went over on time???

not quite sure I understand the 24 hour rule, but I think I do
Are ya all talking about me? I haven't gone over the 24 hour rule. I posted another offer when my previous one was accepted and it didn't go over the 24 hour rule. That is if your talking about me.

From what I understand it is total time for all swaps combined, not sure though

It is for total swaps for the week.

......

If you stall the thread for more than 24 hours TOTAL all offers combined you will not trade for the rest of the week, If possible the stalled offer will be rolled back to the offer before.

Heck, I don't have ANY breeds to offer, and I still play

The trick, I think, is simply to be aware that with certain breeds/varieties, there's only going to be so many people looking for those at a given time. So maybe you can only do one or two swaps a week for eggs, and if there's something else you want, you might have to offer paypal for it. If you've got something you know isn't going to maybe get claimed as quickly or as often, maybe don't offer two or three swaps in a row, or increase the number of eggs you're offering. You have absolutely beautiful birds! But right now (to use myself as an example) I've got incubators booked and overbooked for the NYD swap, I don't have pens for all the breeds I'm currently hatching much less room to take on another one, and anything I hatch now has to stay indoors very possibly until mid-February. So it's not an ideal time for me -- even though I am sorely tempted!!!

Just a thought or two for your consideration

For space, I shortened your wonderful, thoughtful post. With which I totally agree!

When I have eggs to offer I know that mostly they are for specialist flocks just because of their needs. My Jersey are exhibition style and if you cannot afford to feed them please don't 'buy' them; the faverolles both bantam and LF are a very mild-mannered and usually will not challenge for position so if you cannot take the time and funds to provide them enough water and feed stations and night-time accommodations to not have to compete with your RIR's please do not 'buy' them. Kinda the same for the lovely, mild, simply elegant Barnevelder although they have a bit better odds to not be starved out. Now, the Ameraucana a 'nutter story, please feel free to integrate them into a flock as they at least are more 'chicken-y'

and less 'pet-y' (much more grins here).

Even when I have good eggs to offer I will be aware of these facts (limited interest) and be prepared to add a PP option in a short time. The way I figure it, this is for fun and tho we have an interesting 'community' and the my birds' eggs are worth way more than the little PP if I keep them and set them for myself ......... again my cheep (sic) $.02 worth k/

I reckon i'm done with this thread then. I dont have tons of breeds to offer.

I love your porcelain pen silkies! I got two BEAUTIFUL babies from it. The problem is, sometimes people just aren't in the mood for Silkies. Sometimes they are. If I offer something and it takes a long time to be accepted, I don't offer it again for awhile since it is clear that people aren't as enthusiastic as they were the first time. That's all.

Hang in there.
