good morning all. this is what I am like until i have finished my first cup of coffee! COLD! 28 but sun is shining today. snow came and went yesterday and froze my butt off with the wind chill and out with the chickens.

8+ BBS splash pen. so I added a frizzled cuckoo roo to the pen to increase the chance of getting frizzled chicks. So, he doesn't exactly fit BBS but I think the frizzled chicks are more important. Also a frilkie black roo and a splash silkie roo, and a black smooth sizzle roo over 3 black silkies, 1 splash silkie, 2 splash smooth sizzles, 2 blue smooth sizzles and surely a couple other that I'm forgetting in the BBS family.

6+ Hen's choice in about 3-4 weeks... just depends on how the girls lay and filling orders (will be all LF: LC orps, project LF choc orps, SFH, CCL, rhodebar, light sussex, BBS copper marans, speckled sussex and I think the BBS orps lay their first egg yesterday!

6 F1 Isabella (lavender) marans- these you will hatch all black chicks carrying the lavender gene. Breed them back together for a chance to get the lavender. It's a project and they are beautiful. These are from my own birds and the first hatch had 11 (100%). 8 are feather leg!

Okay, so I have a technical question that spitfire might be able to answer. I am in Virginia and I didn't realize until very recently that VA had weird rules about shipping birds. (Iv'e ordered before from large companies and didn't seem to be an issue, so never thougth about it.) I claimed from Babymake6 for Jan2 chicks and I am thinking I am going to have to forfeit, as I believe she is not NPIP yet. am I correct in this? will I be able to get chicks from her (and others) easilly once she is NPIP? I have some chicks coming in the spring, too.

Where in VA are you? If need be you can have them shipped here and we can meet up if you aren't too far.

The way I understand it, the sender must be NPIP within the last 12 months, and AI within the last 6 months. The easiest way to check is to email [email protected] She's my contact at the Dept of Ag in Harrisonburg and she'd know if the rules have changed.
