OMG, right?! Everyone seems to think hamsters are such great pets and rats are "gross", but I've had rats, mice and hamsters (and gerbils), and I can say that the ratties were the BEST! They can be trained just like little dogs, and you get busy and can't handle them on a daily basis, they don't go psycho on you and try to chew your fingers off! Unfortunately, I don't have any now. The only "small animal" I have is the fat kitters, the rest are all birds. G would KILL me if I got back into rats, as tempted as I've been. I used to breed true hairless, siamese and those little black ones? Those were the first litter of Harley carriers on the East coast!

I'm not 100% sure if that is possible, but it sure looked that way. On the other hand, I had a rat who opened its own cage (not sure how) and, I woke up with it sleeping right next to my head.
