PDA - Poultry Displays of Affection? I want to hear them!

Chickaddict youve got me in tears!!! What a wonderful story. I never knew that chickens has such feeling and different personalities. My hens are all wonderful sweet darlings but out of all ten I have one that just loves me to death. Every evening when I get home from work I go down to see the girls and do chores. After thats all done I grab a bucket and have a seat, then enters Maxine. All I have to do is give her a place to sit and shes on my lap rubbing her comb under my chin and on my cheeks. Then she settles down and tells me all about her day. I dont let the hens out in yard due to the dogs and other animals but sometimes when nobody is looking I take Maxine out for a walk. Ive let the other hens out before but Maxine follows me right back in the hen house no problem. If I happen to get out of sight of her she calls out to me so we can find each other, my husband and family think im crazy but I swear that chicken and I are meant to be together.

Wow, all of these stories are wonderful! I'm glad for all the happy endings.

My girls jump up on my arm (Linner) or leg (Dunch, infrequently) when I tap it and settle down usually to be held and shown around. They like to sit with me and will follow me around to "help" with the gardening. Dunch answers my calls when I talk to them at night -- I go out to make sure that they have enough food and water for the evening/early morning and are all settled, and I make sure to call out so they don't get startled. She just clucks gently whenever she hears me do that, like "cluuuuuuuuuuck cluck cluck".

My birds like to jump in my lap, dig a nest, and sleep for a while. They also offer me bugs and seeds that they find, and they base their actions off of what I'm doing. So if I sit down, they all crowd around me and sit down next to me.

greenfamilyfarm: I think talking counts! Have to wonder what they're saying though~

GoldenSilverLaced, I would love it if they gathered around. Chickens make very good company. And besides, human friends don't eat up all the bugs in my yard for me!

MoodyChicken, that's the very first I've ever heard of a hen offering bugs and seeds! That is very cool. What a sweetheart!

Alleychick, Maxine sounds like a darling! That's one thing I'd love to experience, is a chicken liking me so much that they'd rub their comb against my cheek or chin.

Sigh. Now off to work. But these sure are getting me off in a good mood!
