I have recently been using PDZ Coop Refresher. I have had 3 chickens die after coop cleaning and applying this. I don’t know if this is the definitive cause, but now I’m wondering. The girls are absolutely fine and healthy, I clean the coop, put in the refresher and when I go to close the coop at sundown, bam, another one of my ladies has died. I don’t know if they’re eating it but I am guessing they are. It says all natural and organic on the bag, but I can’t find a list of actual ingredients. Am I crazy? Any thoughts?

Thank you!

PDZ is a mineral called zeolite.
I've been using it for almost a year without issue. I use the granular version, not the powder. My coop is also very well ventilated.
Which version are you using, how good is your ventilation and how old are your birds?

Thank you for your reply! I use the granulated too. The coop is well ventilated as well. My girls will be 1yr in April.

I'm so sorry you're losing birds. I just wanted to share that I've always used Sweet PDZ in granular form, even with very young chicks. I haven't had an issue with it. I don't like to clean the coops with my birds inside but right after or the very next morning, at the latest, my girls scratch up every single inch of the shavings and PDZ that I've placed. They can make it quite dusty while they're scratching around. I've also witnessed my girls eating the PDZ, possibly daily. I really hope you can get to the bottom of your losses, and don't lose any more. Wishing you all the best. You'll be in my thoughts
