PDZ Coop Refresher

Thank you for this. Do you use the sand just on your poop boards, or on the floor of your coop, or in your run?

I use sand in the run and coop as well. I use Construction sand...same stuff they use as base for patio blocks etc. it works great. Poop dries up so fast and is easy to scoop. I also sprinkle a little pdz over it. It’s working out for me so far. No complaints.

I have a pigeon in a little prefab chicken coop and the entire indoor area of it is covered in about 1/2 inch of the granular PDZ, I actually feed him by dumping the feed in the "sand" in the floor and letting him pick it up, he uses it for grit as well. I seriously doubt chickens are dying from a little bit of PDZ in their coop. Them dying within a day is really weird too.

Do you mean the OP's birds?

Yes, I do. they are saying that they are cleaning the coop, then dead birds in the evening. Even if it WAS the PDZ, them saying they were dying that fast would be really freaky. I wouldn't expect them to die that fast if they sprayed roundup all over the coop.

Yeah....there was another reason for the deaths but they left before it was discovered,
