Pea chicks at last!

Hello and welcome to BYC. I hope that you enjoy your time here.

This is a useful link of “How to” BYC guides to take a look at announcements-feedback-issues-guides.3. I’d suggest including your location using the guide in the link above. You can use this link to contact members in your area - Find your State's thread.

Best wishes

Welcome to BYC. That's a great brood of peachicks. Keep them protected from the snakes. What type of snakes were you dealing with in New England ?
We're not in New England, we're in Virginia, though I'm from Cornwall in the original England!! These are mainly black snakes and copperheads! I do not care what color they all are, if they go after my pea family they are DEAD

Thank you all for your welcome! My Afghans are great fun! I used to have them when I lived in UK, they both died so then when I moved here I was going to get another,my husband had another hunting hound. Then we found 2 lab puppies in a cardboard box and they became my dogs, one lived to 14 years, the other to 17, so when the first one died we bought Suhka, a brindle Afghan, then as my other lab was getting on, the breeder called me and asked me to take one that she had bred and sold, but had to have back because of cruelty, so I got Annie, a black and white domino. Annie has been hard work to get her to meet other people but she does OK now.
Yes, My husband and I are as different as our dogs!! However, it works, no idea how or why but just goes to show that opposites do attract!! I guess we both love dogs though!

We keep the peafowl because I adore them! I also love "talking" to them, Nona jumps on top of their house puts his head on one side and answers me! I just love to hear him yell loudly, they are not far from the house so loud noises and he screams! My husband makes knives in his spare time so forging seems to have plenty of loud machinery too!! Baby (the peahen) only lays eggs to sit them, and Nona, the boy (now Dad) is SO beautiful. So far so good with the snake situation, we still have 7 chicks, 4 yellow ones and 3 brown ones! With pied parents they could grow into any mix of India blue and white I guess!!
We have never considered eating one of her eggs! They are just so important to her and so to us!
Thank you all for the warm welcome!!
