Pea Comb Ancona chickens

I live in Alaska and am always looking for cold hardy birds. I like the look of the Anconas and the promise of good foragers that lay large numbers of white eggs. I wild prefer a cold hardy pea comb Ancona, but have not seen any being bred. Any pointers would be appreciated.

Are you sure it's an Ancona you are thinking of?
An Ancona is Mediterranean breed and does not have pea comb.
If you want a breed which lays large numbers white eggs perhaps a Pea or rose comb Leghorn would work for you.
I think there a Pea comb Rhode Island red as well.

Anconas are a Mediterranean breed, and most, if not all, Mediterranean breeds aren't cold hardy. Yes, people in cold climates do keep them and they do just fine, but talking Alaskan cold, they might have a harder struggle. And, unfortunately, Mediterranean or not, most "great" layers aren't built for cold either.

If I were to suggest anything, I'd go with an Australorp or a Red Sex Link, or as the previous poster recommended, RIR. I've kept those breeds (single combed) and they do fine in the cold, though the bigger combed ones (which are typically your best layers) will be frostbite risks.
