Progress report

They are 10 days old now. Blue is way behind, so I've been tubing fluids. Today I might tube some baby bird food.

Way back when, Ernie West and his partner lived in CA. They bred peafowl and named a few variations of peafowl they created. One was called Red Buff as it pertained to Spalding Black Shoulder that exhibited a red hue to both the hens and cocks but especially the hens. Some will argue that it is only an expression of Spalding but I believe that it is an actual gene that is passed. I got mine from Leggs Peafowl who bought out many of Ernie's birds when he died. As you can see in this pic the cock has a red sheen to him in the early spring that bleaches out in the summer. The hens keep the red color and can be quite spectacular.View attachment 3525977
I love this hen! Her red buff body and green head are so unique.
