I have a peahen that went broody out in the woods. Her eggs hatched yesterday, but by the time we found her tonight, only one chick was left. And we were lucky to get there in time since the cats were following her and the little guy just wouldn't stay put under her wing. We caught the chick and have it in a brooder until we can get her wrangled into a pen tomorrow. However I noticed the peachick has numerous tiny mites around its ears. Its only 2 days old, what can I do for it?

Maybe some D.E? I'm sure someone with alot more experience than me with peafowl will be able to give you a more definitive answer. What part of Indiana are you from?

I'm in northern Indiana - Warsaw.
I should clarify that these are tiny, fast moving almost white specs. DE isn't readily available but would Sevn be ok?

Just wondering if its safe at this age?

I would think that sevin would be ok, just don't overdo it. On another note, do you sell peafow or know anyone local that does?. I am in need of a peahen for my india blue. I am in Valpo.

You could try this site. I think deerman knows of someone who is a reputable breeder in Ind.
