Peachicks with a hen

Someone on facebook posted that they just bought peachicks that were 5 weeks old that a person sold to them that the owner had taken from the peahen. I wasn't quite able to contain my temper about the seller.

The facebook post is why I asked this question! I really didn't know they would stay with her almost a year, but I didn't know how long. Thank you

Yea mine keep their babies clear thru to the next spring. Many times they become so bonded with mom they don't survive if separated, well not quite that young anyhow. Mine cry piteously when they can't find mom even at 5 months.

Normally, from what I have observed that unlike chicken moms who drive the chicks away, the peas just kind of start being more and more independent on their own.

Of course I couldn't be a farmer either and separate the calves, the crying breaks my heart.
