For your first birds you might want to get India Blues. They are very good for your first peafowl because they are the least expensive and then once you get a feel for them you can get all the cool stuff like pieds, blackshoulders, ect. Really it doesn't matter though, you could start with whatever kind you want, just make sure you are happy with the color because you never know if you will change your mind!

They are great birds and the only downside I have ever seen is they are addictive. If you are planning on getting 2 build a big enough pen for 4 or 6

Thats the best advice in the thread! Started out with 2...and found an ad in the lancaster farmer, and am looking at getting 2-3 more.... *sigh*​

Yes at one time not to long ago (2 yrs) we had 27 breeder pens of peafowl each pen had a trio or quad in them. So yes they are addictive, we don't have as many now we are down to 5 breeder pens and the rest of them are empty or have chickens in them.
