How would the peacock know that you (and your daughter and housekeeper) are a female?

I think the more likely reason is that he was raised from hatch by a human and considers himself a human too, thus no boundaries /fear.

Sorry, but No. Tut was hatched and raised by his mother, my peahen(see avatar) The only time he has been touched by human hands is the few times he has had to be caught for worming, (not exactly a bonding experience).

Animals can pick up things like that very easily compared to us. You'll be surprised what animals can sense.
