Our daughter will be taking a 4 year old peacock to the fair for 4-h and was wondering what size cage i should make to put him in?they do not have any big enough for him so i will need to make one.i have plenty of cage wire to build it but wasn't sure of the size that people use.she will be taking 23 different birds to enter in the fair. Thanks

we have a story from the county fair. our county did not have peafowl size cages so we were instructed by fair committee to build one in which the bird could be easily viewed. . for our adult male we did a 3 ft x 3 ft by 6 ft long. so he could turn around should he choose too. when we got to the fair the official instructed us to put the bird in a show cage probably 30 inches by 30 inches by 30?
with the bird in hand we said look at the size of the animal and the size of the cage, he will not fit. but the discussion went on for a time and some said we couldnt be in the show because the rule book says must be put in a designated show cage. in the end we were in the show. hoping this year will go more smoothly. moral just ask first and still be prepared.

I don't know the answer to the question. But I did want to chime in that my fair doesn't have cages for any of the birds showing. You have to bring your own. So thats not always true.
