Is it normal for male peacocks to be fanning their tail and presenting at this time of the year? I mean he hasn't got much left for feathers but he's showing what he's got. I thought they only did this in the Spring.

Me too! I thought they only did this in the breeding season. Guess they didn't get the memo. funny...all of the ducks and geese are doing the same thing. Saw my first goose fight yesterday. didn't think much of it either. I hope someone with more experience will respond because i am clueless.I'm new to peafowl, so I don't know, but three of my boys were doing it this morning. What I have noticed, and maybe someone can comment, is that my two yearling boys display way more than my three mature boys.
As shown in your avatar, lol.I'm pretty sure it's normal. Babies display all year, so I think it's just in their nature to show off.
I was wondering about that just yesterday... Thanks! They do it all the time here boys and girls. My girls fan more after mating season is over.
My yearlings do it to everything... chickens, duck, cats, me, etc...Also, it doesn't always seem that fanning the tail/train is about trying to impress the girls.
Sometimes they do this when they are startled, or when they're trying to intimidate someone (here they sometimes flash their trains at scrub jays to get them away from the food).
